The Minister of Culture Aurélie Filippetti announced that the tax on connected digital devices will be postponed to 2015. Good news for technophiles.
The tax on the connected devices was delayed due to a tax break decided by the government. Initially planned to integrate the Finance Act 2014, it should be offset by a year. To recall this tax is in financing culture in the digital age and must be applied on all digital devices connected: Smartphones, tablet PCs, game consoles, computers, connected TVs ... At a time when all devices connect to each other, the list should be expanded quickly to watches, washing machines, lawn mowers, freezers.
Concerning the amount of the tax, the minister said that it will be relatively low and settled on the purchase of the unit. Precisely that! They talk about the equivalent of 1% of the price. "Painless virtuous mechanism for the consumer, but which would have a strong impact on the whole cultural sector," said Aurélie Filippetti. For their part, the actors of the new technologies are a dim view of this tax that could affect them in the competitive high-tech sector.
Aurélie Filippetti just postpone the tax on digital cameras 2015.
